Job Overview

Reporting to the External Relations Officer at the UNDRR Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS) in Cairo, Egypt, the Homebased Social Media and Web Content Editor will be responsible for translating web content from English to Arabic, creating high-quality content for ROAS communications channels, managing social media platforms, and providing monthly reports on deliverables related to social media and web content. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing online content and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Translation and Web Content Management:
- Translate web content from English to Arabic, ensuring accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
- Update landing pages with diverse components and ensure accessibility of web content.
- Liaise with web front-end developers to support RTL languages, such as Arabic, and provide feedback on implementation.
Social Media Management:
- Create engaging content for ROAS social media channels in both Arabic and English.
- Manage ROAS social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) to enhance reach, engagement, and positioning.
- Develop and implement a social media content plan to align with UNDRR’s communication objectives.
Content Creation and Communications:
- Produce high-quality written content for ROAS communications, including newsletters, case studies, and web articles.
- Strengthen media relations and coordinate press activities to increase coverage of ROAS initiatives.
- Ensure timely development of content related to ROAS activities and events.
Monthly Reporting:
- Provide a monthly report to the External Relations Officer, including translated web articles, social media statistics, and the social media content plan.
Other Duties:
- Assist in any other tasks related to communications and social media management as required by the External Relations Officer.

Qualifications and Skills

First-level university degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in web content management, digital communications, or public information.
Proficiency in Arabic and English (both oral and written) is essential.
Experience in translating web content from English to Arabic and using content management systems (CMS) is required.
Familiarity with photo editing software, web analytics, and accessibility standards is desirable.
Knowledge of disaster risk reduction, climate change, or sustainable development is an advantage.
